Review by Vanessa K. Eccles
Deep Water is a hauntingly beautiful collection of tales woven together with the magical gold of excellent storytelling. I’ve long said that author Kathryn Trattner’s stories are like a pair of fine, antique lace gloves. They’re foreign, yet familiar. Elegant, yet well-worn. Reminiscent of the days of yore, but grounded here and now.
Trattner does an amazing job of making moments mysterious. Her stories remind us that every mansion has its ghosts, every love was once something else, and what at first appears simple, in fact, isn’t. There are a million details hidden in every tiny moment of life and fantasy, and Trattner carefully, masterfully captures them all.
This book belongs in every reader’s library.
